Anyone here w/ ulcerative colitis?

i have had ulcerative proctitis for over 10 years (basicly colitis but limited to 2 inches of my rectum and no need for medication really other than as needed suppositories) but yesterday I felt like i almost went into shock from pain and my dr. did a emergency CT and found colitis in my entire gut basicly and Its swollen and painful........i dont have an appt w/ a specialist until a week from now but is 'this' a bad case of it since it feels SO SWOLLEN or is that normal to feel swollen and tender? PLEASE ONLY ASNWERS FROM SUFFERS, NOT JUST GOOGLERS
